Adding a Second POS Account/Device for a Location

You can easily connect multiple POS accounts/devices for one location. When you do this, all orders from these devices are combined into one set of reports.

There are a few reasons this is very useful to do:

  • For Clover, they might issue a new MID (Merchant ID) when you upgrade or replace your Clover hardware. This commonly occurs when you buy the original Clover device from a reseller and then buy a replacement device directly from Clover (or vice versa).
  • You have two (or more) POS devices in a location and there’s no value in seeing reports broken out for each device (such as two interchangeable cash registers sitting next to each other).

Steps to Add a Second POS Connection

  1. Log out of your POS dashboard. This will ensure you don’t accidentally connect the wrong account in Step 3. For Square, go to squareup.com/dashboard, click the business name in the upper right corner, and then click Sign Out. For Clover, go to clover.com, click the Account button in the upper right corner, and then click Log Out.
  2. In the Sprk™ app, go to the Locations / Connections page (see screenshots below). Click the Add Connection button at the bottom of the page, and select the Square or Clover option. 
  3. On the next screen, click Connect to Square / Connect to Clover. You will be prompted to log into your Square / Clover account, so make sure you log into the one you want to add.

Orders for Unused Accounts/Devices

If you are no longer using an account/device (such as if you upgraded to new hardware), you will typically want to keep the historical orders associated with that device. Because of this, do not delete or make any changes to the connection for the unused device. You would lose all of the historical data if you did that.

You can cancel the Sprk™ subscription for an unused account/device without losing the historical data. No new orders from that device will appear in Sprk™, but the existing orders will be retained.
